The Importance of Proper Windshield Installation
Windshields are a vital part of vehicle safety. To help prevent injury in the event of an accident, windshields are made from laminated glass. This type of glass holds together when shattered. The windshield is typically made up of two panes of glass that are held together by a sealing agent. Even if the glass breaks, it will not break into large pieces. Instead, you often see a cracking pattern that may appear like a spider web.
In a serious accident where an airbag is deployed, the windshield serves another important function. It should be able to withstand the impact of the airbag and remain intact. Proper installation of the windshield can ensure that the airbag remains in place to protect the passengers inside of the vehicle. If the windshield is not properly installed, it can pop out of place with the airbag is deployed, allowing the airbag to release out the front window of the vehicle. This puts passengers inside the car at a much greater risk of injury, or even death.
