Auto One Winter Weather Accessories

We recently took a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and drove through the worst snow and bitter cold the Gaylord area has seen in years. It was a long, slow drive on icy roads, and it gave us a lot of time to think about all the Auto One aftermarket accessories we wished were installed on our vehicle that could help with the difficult driving conditions.

Remote Car Starter

Our factory key fob will open the doors from across the parking lot, but it won’t start the car. A remote car starter with SmartStart could have told us the vehicle was started long before we walked through the snow to get there. With a little extra thinking, we could have left the heat blowing and avoided a lot of snow removal.

Heated Seats

When it is 10 degrees outside with strong winds, it doesn’t matter how high you set the heat in the vehicle. It is cold inside. Heated Seats would have helped keep us warm and comfortable. There were multiple people in the vehicle. The built-in heated seats would have allowed each person to set their own comfort level.

Power Running Boards

Without Power Running Boards (or any nerf bars), getting back into the vehicle was a challenge on the icy and snowy ground. AMP Research’s PowerStep hangs lower than most step bars and would have helped us easily get into the vehicle.

Truck Bed Covers

When we got to our destination, there was 18 inches of snow in the parking lot and on all the vehicles including in truck beds. Any type of truck bed cover would have been useful to keep the snow out.

WeatherTech Floor Mats

Laser cut floor mats like WeatherTech or Husky Liners are a blessing in the snow and cold. The advanced engineering of the floor mats keeps water flowing away from your boots. The floor mats keep your carpets looking show-room new.

Additional Exterior LED Lights

Driving at night in heavy snow showers was a nightmare experience. Additional exterior LED lights and high-brightness headlights would have been extremely helpful during the hours of driving with dim lights only.

Window Tinting

Eventually, we made it out of the snow belts and onto dry pavement only to have all that bright sunlight shining off the snow into our eyes. With snow covering everything, it was a 365 degree experience that could only be helped with auto window tinting to cut down on the glare.
