Are you in? It’s a free light show, brought to you by the Perseid meteor shower! The meteors will fall from the Perseus constellation, in the northern sky. The constellation was named after the hero Perseus in Greek mythology. So, you can thank Perseus for your free ticket and good time!
The sky will light up with 50 or more meteors an hour from August 11 to August 14, 2015! Viewing times for the meteor shower are 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. The sky will be most active as the evening moves closer to dawn. The best evening to watch the meteor shower is expected to be Thursday, August 13, 2015.
For the ideal viewing experience, you need to be someplace extremely dark. That means no city lights! So, pack up your family and friends and head into the darkness.
